Description
This original version of Jay Telfer’s 1973 solo album from Axe Records was recorded with the help of Jay’s many musician friends (a virtual musical who’s who at the time) and has been re-mastered from the original analog tapes. Jay’s lyrics are often witty and humorous and occasionally loaded with outrageous puns. Musicians include Richard Fruchtman, Malcolm Tomlinson, Murray McLaughlan, Fred Mollin, Moe Koffman, Jack Zaza and Kevin Staples.
Jay wrote “Ten Pound Note” after his days with A Passing Fancy (it became a hit single recorded by blues-rock band Steel River), was an actor in Hollywood movies and TV, wrote movie and TV scripts, collected Volkswagon memorabilia and in later years founded and edited a successful weekly antiques magazine “The Wayback Times”.
Sadly, Jay passed away in 2009. In his honour, The University Of Toronto, Faculty of Music, is naming their new music hall venue “The Jay Telfer Forum”
