Description

From The Pas, Manitoba, the 60’s rockabilly band The Midnight Angels are featured here with four rare tracks. The original musicians on the recording sessions at Toronto’s Sound Canada Recording Centre in 1967 are Lary Haynes, vocals and bass; Don Nabess, rhythmn guitar and vocals; Charles Nabess, lead guitar and vocals with Jim Moran on drums. After the session, Bill Allard replaced Jim on drums when they toured. Their first single was “I’m Sufferin’” b/w “(I Wish) In The Moonlight” released on the Apex label in early 1969 with local success in Dauphin (#4 on CKDN), Winnipeg and throughout the Western provinces where they toured.

Indigeneous brothers Don and Charles Nabess, were influenced musically by the wealth of country and southern/rockabilly records they collected from the 1950’s and 1960’s – like Norman Petty’s Buddy Holly style. Larry, Don and Charles continued to work together in touring bands (“Three Penny Opera” etc.) until Charles’ death in 2014. “You Need Me” and “From Bad To Worse” were never released on a vinyl single. All four tracks are now available here for the first time.
